One week into sewing the strips together for the dragon quilt:

His face is starting to emerge… peek-a-boo!  At my current pace, I’ll be happy to have the quilt top finished by the end of August.  My goal is to have the whole quilt completed by Oct. 7.  That’s the date I started this project, so that will make it a full year of sewing on it.

For those of you who are wondering, I spend usually between 3-4 hours sewing everyday.   So…. 8 months x 30 days x 3 hours per day (avg.) = approximately 720 hours of stitching so far… it’s like 18 weeks of full time work!

I find my sewing time to be after dinner, when everything else is done (or done enough), from about 9pm to 2-3am depending on the work load during the day.  I watch a lot of cheeezzzy late night movies!

When is your favorite time of day to sew?

  1. I'm a night owl… I do my crafty stuff at night… about the same times as you. However, I do try really hard to be in bed before my husband get up for work at 3 a.m. LOL He doesn't like it when I'm up all night long.

    LOVE the progress!!

  2. It looks amazing Gail! I don't think I would ever have the patience for a project that is so intricate. I prefer to sew in the afternoon (3ish) but usually sew after the kids are in bed around 9 until 11 or 12.

  3. Wow! It's coming together really nicely.

My favorite time is whenever I can muster the energy to drag my sewing machine to the kitchen table. šŸ˜‰ I can't wait until we move and I have a designated sewing space!
