I recently started on another Chakra Quilt. I’m calling it the Third Eye Quilt. I thought about naming it Ajna Quilt, but I think a better understanding will come with a more descriptive name.
This quilt represents the sixth major Chakra in the energetic system of the body. It is the center of intuition, where we transcend the duality of “me vs. the rest of the world”. This is where the “I” consciousness is absorbed into the “whole” of the universe, and we are no longer bound to time. It helps clear away illusions and help us connect to realities that may not be super evident.
The Third Eye Chakra is associated to the pineal gland in charge of regulating biorhythms, including sleep and wake times. This is definitely an area in which I personally need work. My sleep cycles have been messed up since I was a bartender and working till 3am on the regular. I still have a hard time falling asleep before 2am.
The major color of this chakra is purple or indigo. The wisdom of this Chakra is seeing beyond our own self-inflicted perceptions. I have a lot of those type of perceptions that lead to negative thinking and self-esteem issues. So my meditations of late have been about seeing things clearly outside of my own perceptions.
About The Quilt
I’ve recently started cutting and sewing on this quilt. I have a general idea of how I want to piece it together, but the idea hasn’t fully solidified yet. I may need to look at it on the design wall a bit longer before I decide how to proceed.
While I’m trying to make a decision, I’m sewing my scraps together as I go. I’m really liking how the scrap quilt to this project is starting to look:
